September 16th marked the eagerly awaited season opener as Calne RFC played host to Chippenham II!
The match began slowly for Calne, with Chippenham scoring several tries in the first half. Nevertheless, Calne rebounded positively in the second half, with winger Chris Addinell and fly-half Liam Kearney each scoring a try. Blair Collins-Thomas added the conversion, resulting in a final score of 12-32 in favour of Chippenham.
The match showcased standout performances, particularly from Iain Tait, who earned the title of man of the match.
After the game, players from both Chippenham and Calne enjoyed a meal courtesy of The Pewsham, Chippenham. We're thrilled to announce that The Pewsham will now be our official post-match meal provider, and we express our gratitude for their sponsorship.
Despite the final score not tipping in our favour, it was an encouraging season opener, with Calne demonstrating their resilience against a formidable opponent. We thank Chippenham II for a memorable game and all who joined us to see it.
Calne returns to Sutton Benger on Saturday 23rd for what promises to be another brilliant game ahead of a great season!
